You guys, I am SO excited to share this with you! In fact, I'm pretty much excited about everything right now -- The Euphorics EP comes out tomorrow, June 18th, (UPDATE: it's here!!!) which, not-so-coincidentally, is also the day that I happen to be getting a brand-new tattoo (more on that later), and both things have me so wound up that I've hardly slept in days! Me and my whole team of wonderful people -- my co-writers, my producers, my publicist, and all the friends that have helped me make this happen -- put a lot of heart and hard work into this little baby, and I really can't wait for you to hear it.
And when you do, I think you'll probably notice that I experimented a bit with some electronic sounds on this project. There's everything from programmed beats, to iPad-created sounds... Even my 1940's accordion was brought into the 21st Century with a bit of tweaking from Kyle Andrews' mysterious computer programs. So, I wanted the new sound of this EP to be reflected in the album packaging design.
The gorgeous photography was done by Ariel Renae in an all-white studio called WestLight in Franklin, TN. I wanted the packaging to be clean and minimal with a pop of color (thanks, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie!), so I stuck to simple lines, a contemporary font, and mainly greys and whites in the overall design. Aaand since I like to use my own artwork as my graphic design guinea pig, I decided to try wrapping the album in a semi-transparent white vellum, to add a "finishing touch." The cd slides out of the vellum wrapper like a sleeve, revealing the album cover underneath. I'm so happy with how it turned out! (Thanks to We Make Tapes for the packaging, and Jive! Digital Print Factory for the vellum!)
Euphorics comes to iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon MP3 and Spotify tomorrow, June 18th, and don't forget to check out the store on my website to order physical copies!
