July '14 // Insta-Recap
Follow my adventures in real-time on Instagram.
Now that the blog is back from the dead, one of my favorite traditions can recommence; my monthly Insta-recap posts. As much as social media is surely changing our society and our attention spans for the worse, I find that revisiting my Instagram feed every now and then, just to peruse the "capturable" moments of the preceding month, is really affirming for me. My memory is truly, truly terrible, and I'm always zipping around, willy nilly. So, looking back at my month -- where I've been, who I've seen, what I've accomplished -- is a really nice way to remind myself that, hey. Life is pretty grand.
THIS JULY, I...
1 // Visited the village of Aurora on the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York for a wedding. Quite possibly one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in the US. I sang a few songs and danced the night away with my dear friend, Eric, who spent a week with me exploring New York and New Jersey. We stopped for soft serve ice cream on the side of the road, had our caricatures made, laid at the end of a pier and gazed at the stars, and had a generally magically week.
2 // Stayed in Manhattan again, at the same apartment I stayed in last August in the Lower East Side. While I was there, I wrote some songs, walked the NYC High Line for the first time, danced in the rain with a stranger, visited The Vintage Room and found the most gorgeous green plaid early 50's style frock that fits like it was made for me, and played quite possibly the best show I've ever played at Rockwood Music Hall. It was a dream.
3 // Discovered an ancient copy of "The Last Time I Saw Paris" by Elliot Paul in a used book store, and I cannot seem to get enough of it.
4 // Visited with my family in New Jersey and PA, including my Aunt Ronelle, who is currently kicking breast cancer's ass like a pro, and my dog, Dee-OH-Gee (D.O.G.), who is pictured top right looking like the world is her oyster.
5 // Cooked some truly amazing food and rediscovered how wonderful I feel when I eat all-organic and Paleo.
6 // And.... fell in love with a man who brought me roses. It's true. Happy girl.
